GEM ist ein wertvoller Stein, ein Teil von Gemeinschaft, ein Stück vom Gemeinsamen.

GEM GEM steht für Polyphonie – es wird als Gemeinsame Ephemere Magie erzeugt, es funktioniert als Giftiges Edukatives Megafon oder führt uns gar durch unsere Gemeinnützig-Eigensinnigen Mikrokosmen. Gemeinschaft wird zum Refugium, Sehnsuchtsort oder Gegenprogramm und oft von der komplexen Realität des Einanderaushaltens eingeholt. GEM GEM entsteht aus einer Kooperation der künstlerischen Studienfächer KKP (Kunst und Kommunikative Praxis) und DEX (Design, materielle Kultur und experimentelle Praxis). Darin werden künstlerisch-edukative Praktiken mit alltäglichen Denk- und Handlungsformen und wissenschaftlichen Methoden verwoben. Auf dieser Weise werden kritische Reflektionen zu kulturellen und ökonomischen Bedingungen, Diversität, Inklusion, Gender und Ökologie materialisiert. GEM GEM gibt Einblicke, was die Kunstpädagogik an der Angewandten bewegt. Es legt die Aufmerksamkeit auf Formate der Zusammenarbeit: es wird gemeinsam gestaltet, zusammen gedacht, kollektiv organisiert und gelebt – gefeiert wird sowieso am liebsten gemeinsam.

GEM GEM wird organisiert von Karin Altmann, Sofia Bempeza, Sonja Groß, Annette Krauss, Konrad Strutz, Anja Voglsam, Nina Wandruszka und Linda Zimmermann.

‘GEM GEM’ stands for polyphony – it is created as a shared ephemeral magic, it functions as a poisonous educational megaphone or even guides us through our charitable and stubborn microcosms. Community becomes a refuge, a place of longing or a counter-programme and is often caught up in the complex reality of enduring one another. ‘GEM GEM’ is the result of a cooperation between the artistic study programmes KKP (Art and Communicative Practice) and DEX (Design, Material Culture and Experimental Practice). It interweaves artistic-educative practices with forms of thought and action and scientific methods and materialises critical reflections on cultural and economic conditions, diversity, inclusion, gender and ecology. ‘GEM GEM’ provides insights into what moves art education at the Angewandte. It focuses on formats of collaboration: we create together, think together, organise and live together – and we prefer to celebrate together anyway.
