*The collective MUSMIG demands a Museum of Migration in Austria!
Since 2019, historians, social and cultural scientists, artists, and activists have been working together in a free and growing collective, organizing exchanges and dialogues on the possibilities and concepts of a Museum of Migration in Vienna.
After exhibition and discourse projects in 2019 and 2020, workshops followed, with a break due to COVID-19. At the WIENWOCHE Festival 2023, a 40-person scientific-artistic PLENUM was held, and the first six-person board of directors was appointed. This board engaged in public dialogues with seven other museum directors in Vienna. In 2024, MUSMIG used its 'Directors' Room' at the Volkskundemuseum Wien (VKM) for collective gatherings, organizing over 20 events, alongside the course module 'Museum of Migration – Eternal Beginnings – Stories Repeating.."
From March 2025, MUSMIG has a room in Pavilion 1 of the Otto Wagner Areal, at the invitation of the VKM.
